I just need to commiserate a little bit. Has anybody else in the community really not wanted a baby shower, but accepted offers from people who offered to host one in order to make them happy?

I posted in this community last week I believe about a friend that conveniently invited herself to STAY AT MY HOME for two weeks after I had my baby.  Said friend lives two hours away from me and she assumed I would "need help" after having my baby.  I have family that live 10 min. away and a supportive husband who will be helpful.   I understand ( Read more... )

At my work shower somebody gave me a bag of various baby things, and included an underwater camera. ??? The only thing I can think of is that she probably knows we want a water birth, but ew! My husband and I are still newlyweds, and before the wedding his grandmother pitched a fit because we didn't invite all her friends and neighbors to the wedding. So, my husband is a very macho, "tough guy", I-do-what-I-want kind of guy. This baby will be his third, albeit my first. My best friend from high school and I wound up getting pregnant within 2 weeks of each other, so our mothers want to do a joint baby shower for us in June. My sister and MIL are throwing me a co-ed shower in early March! It's more of a party than a gift thing, because we have a lot of friends out of work or in school right now.
